SEO Book

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

If you’re new to everything SEO means, if you want to see a great presentation of the topic or if you just want to expand your horizons, there’s one SEO book I recommend named simply ‘SEO Book’ because it’s actually the only decent book approaching the subject.

Not only it’s a great resource of information, it’s a great reading experience and a ticket to actual web visibility. It wouldn’t make sense to tell more because the author and many other readers present in great detail the book and their testimonials here.

Try it! After all it’s all risk free – you have a 90 days money back guarantee if you decide this book is not for you.

Improve your site – CSS 4 SEO

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Owning a link directory gives me the opportunity to review many sites as they are submitted. Some are good, many are…let’s say ‘not that good’. This doesn’t always mean they look ugly – just that the code behind is a wreck.

This is the reason I want to show you an e-book called ‘CSS 4 SEO’. At the end of this post I added a link to the table of contents for those of you who want to see exactly what’s there.

In short, It starts from the fact that you need to write clean, correct HTML/CSS code in order for your pages to be properly crawled and indexed. Just because your page looks good in Internet Explorer doesn’t mean that Google will like it. To be entirely honest, in many cases Google will accept your pages even if they have coding errors but it’s not good practice to relay on that. Maybe you have too much markup before the actual content starts. Or maybe you have really malformed HTML.

A quick test: go to http://validator.w3.org/, enter your site address and see if it passes validation.

Besides writing clean code, you’ll learn how to use headings, bold, italics tag to draw Google’s attention on your main keywords and content. You’ll get 4 one page HTML/CSS templates to guide you, a review on free tools that can help you achieve your goal and generally a better understanding of the domain. For example, you might have heard about things like table-less design, fixed width, fluid width. It’s time to find out exactly what they mean, how you can implement them and how they can help you.

It’s not a problem if you’re new at this. The book will guide you through the world of valid CSS/HTML and show you how to make the most out of your site’s content in the eyes of the search engines.

As a final word, I could honestly tell you that by the quality of most sites I see (and there are many sites I review in my directory), it would be great if more people would read a book like this in order to be able to better handle their online presence.
